In the part about matching products between shops, I said this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When unique identifiers aren&#8217;t available, advanced algorithms come into play, using fuzzy logic or AI to compare product titles, descriptions, and other data. But here&#8217;s the thing\u2014these methods aren&#8217;t foolproof. They&#8217;re prone to errors and often require large teams of people to act as a quality control filter. And let&#8217;s not even talk about the nightmare of handling bundles or products with variations in color, size, or other attributes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was true then, and for a small site it was the real blocker. Getting prices from Amazon, Walmart or a feed takes a few clicks. Checking, offer by offer, that each one is the same product took most of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Content Egg 23 lets an AI agent connected to your site do that part. I tested it on my demo site: first one product with ChatGPT, which you can watch in the video below, then runs with several agents in parallel, the largest with 100 products and 10 agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ChatGPT Builds a WooCommerce Price Comparison Site\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PMCbVqLptvw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-the-products-come-from\">Where the products come from<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This hasn&#8217;t changed since 2024, and it matters for everything below. The agent doesn&#8217;t find products on the internet. It searches the Content Egg modules you&#8217;ve connected: your product feeds, affiliate networks, Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and Sovrn, which covers many shops through one search. If a shop isn&#8217;t connected, it can&#8217;t appear on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same goes for the advice about scale in the old post. WordPress is good for a focused catalog of a few hundred or a few thousand products, not a million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agent can read and search with any version of Content Egg, but adding offers and creating pages needs Content Egg Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-the-agent-checks-before-it-adds-an-offer\">What the agent checks before it adds an offer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I gave ChatGPT one Amazon link, a Lodge 10.25-inch cast iron skillet, and asked for a draft WooCommerce product with a price comparison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It started with the product&#8217;s identity: the barcode (GTIN), the brand, the model number and the size. Content Egg stores this on the page as a &#8220;product passport&#8221;, so any later chat knows exactly what the page compares. A 6.5-inch skillet was sold under the same barcode as the 10.25-inch one, and the agent excluded it for the wrong size. A used skillet on eBay was excluded for its condition. Three eBay listings with outlier prices and a Scheels offer with an unconfirmed size and model were left for me to decide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The page ended up with four offers. The WooCommerce price follows the cheapest one, and the page also got price history and a price alert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-ball-jars-when-the-amazon-barcode-is-the-wrong-one\">The Ball jars: when the Amazon barcode is the wrong one<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 12-product test run, one product showed a problem with starting from Amazon. The page started from an Amazon listing for a 12-pack of Ball wide mouth quart jars, and Amazon listed the barcode 0055848002815.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agent searched with that code and found Amazon and Walmart at $40\u201347. But two other shops, Ace Hardware and Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, sold the same 12-jar box under a different barcode, 0014400670008, with Ball&#8217;s own model number, 67000. The agent looked up Ball&#8217;s product record, concluded that the second code was the brand&#8217;s real one, and proposed switching the page to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the switch, one more search with the brand&#8217;s code found Target, Tractor Supply and Scheels. Target, Tractor Supply and Scheels were found only after switching to Ball&#8217;s own barcode.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you start a page from an Amazon link, you may be starting from a reseller&#8217;s barcode. When you have the brand&#8217;s code, start from that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sizes-and-colours-variant-families\">Sizes and colours: variant families<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The size and colour variations I called a nightmare in 2024 are now part of the same workflow. After the 10.25-inch skillet, I asked the agent to find the other sizes my shops sell. Each size is its own page with its own offers and price history.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same checks ran for each size. An offer for the 10.25-inch skillet can&#8217;t end up on the 12-inch page, because that page&#8217;s passport says 12 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-it-still-needs-you\">Where it still needs you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the hard decisions came from eBay and Sovrn. Their offers come without a barcode or model number, so the agent has only the title, the photo and the price to go on. In the test runs the rule that worked was simple: an offer whose title carries the model code beats a cheaper one with a generic title, and a photo copied from Amazon isn&#8217;t proof of anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Products without a barcode are the other weak spot. My demo site is about fermenting and growing, but many of the things it covers, like fermentation weights, generic crocks and seed trays, are no-name items with no barcode, sold only on Amazon. There was nothing to compare them with. So the test lists used brand-name products like Lodge, Ball, Kilner and OXO, which several shops carry under the same code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the agent isn&#8217;t sure, it doesn&#8217;t guess. The guide it reads from your site says a wrong match is worse than a missing shop, so unclear offers go to you instead of onto the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"scaling-up-one-orchestrator-ten-agents\">Scaling up: one orchestrator, ten agents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building pages one by one in a chat works for a handful of products. For a catalog I tried an orchestrator: one agent that splits the list and supervises the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first time, I ran Claude as the orchestrator with 10 sub-agents, each taking up to 5 products from a list. The orchestrator handed out the products and answered the sub-agents&#8217; questions in my place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this post I ran it twice more on my demo site. In the 12-product run, 4 agents took 3 products each, and the orchestrator again answered their questions. Then came 100 products: 10 agents, 10 products each, using only API modules (Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Sovrn). This time the agents ran in the guide&#8217;s unattended mode, the same one a scheduled task uses. They attached the offers they were sure about, rejected the clear mismatches, and kept every uncertain offer off the page in a list for later, without stopping to ask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The numbers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>100 products in about 21 minutes, roughly 3.5 minutes per product per agent<\/li>\n\n\n<li>98 draft products built; 2 skipped because no barcode or real model number could be found for them<\/li>\n\n\n<li>405 offers attached, about 4 per page, from 1 to 11<\/li>\n\n\n<li>186 offers rejected: used and open-box items, wrong pack counts and sizes, other models, accessories<\/li>\n\n\n<li>300 uncertain offers left out and listed for review<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few details from the two runs. Amazon offers often carry many barcodes; one food processor listing had 37. The agents kept only the brand&#8217;s own code. The 12-product list had a mistake: it said &#8220;9-tray&#8221; for an Excalibur dehydrator whose link was the 8-tray model, and the agent named the page after what the link actually was. Colour versions of the same Lodge Dutch oven became separate pages, as they should.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I&#8217;d set up differently next time, and what you should know before trying it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One brief for all agents.<\/strong> Write your decisions down as rules: how to treat marketplace titles, out-of-stock offers, a barcode that disagrees with the page. For the 100-product run the orchestrator turned its answers from the 12-product run into rules, wrote them once, and the agents applied them.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Your API quotas are shared.<\/strong> Ten agents on one site ran into rate limits (HTTP 429). Each one cleared on a retry about 30 seconds later, but don&#8217;t start dozens of agents at once.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Separate working folders.<\/strong> The agents saved temporary files in one shared folder and overwrote each other&#8217;s. Give each agent its own.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Drafts only.<\/strong> Everything stays a draft until you&#8217;ve looked at it, and you can review the uncertain offers in one sitting afterwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"keeping-the-pages-current-scheduled-tasks\">Keeping the pages current: scheduled tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the pages exist, someone has to notice when offers change. Both ChatGPT and Claude can run a task on a schedule in the cloud, so your computer doesn&#8217;t need to be on. The first step reads what is stored on each page and uses no API quota.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices and stock are refreshed by the plugin itself, as before. The scheduled agent looks for what the plugin can&#8217;t decide: an offer whose title or barcode changed, a price far from the others, a shop that hasn&#8217;t been searched for a while. Other jobs worth scheduling are adding products from a list you prepared and looking for new shops for your pages. Each run starts with no memory of the last one, so give it a list to work from and tell it to check what already exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"try-it-on-one-product\">Try it on one product<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start with one product you already sell, one that has a barcode. Ask for a draft, read the review table, and see whether you agree with its decisions.
